The Assistant Lighthouse Keepers House has been carefully restored and modernised. This three bedroom house sleeps six, has a cosy lounge with heat pumps, a fully equipped kitchen and bathroom.
You can book to stay via AirBnB – but get in quick, many dates booked out already. We hope to be able to make more dates available as we bed in the booking and management process.
*** Update November 2024 *** New weekday dates available for booking on AirBnB.
Here is a review from a happy guest:
“This is so much more than an Air BnB. It’s an entire experience. The location is just spectacular, and the Lighthouse Keeper’s cottage has been beautifully restored. It’s clean, comfortable, and has everything you need. Bring your own food, a good jacket and walking shoes, and be prepared for a memorable stay. A big thank you to those who have taken the time to restore the residence and the natural area surrounding it.”
Please note that Friends of Baring Head do not manage the stays at the cottage. This is done by the Greater Wellington Regional Council and hosted by Parangarehu Ahi Kā Limited on AirBnB.
If you enjoyed your stay, please consider getting involved with, or making a donation to, the Friends of Baring Head. We are in the process of renovating the second house, together with the Regional Council, and we need volunteers to help us restore the house, and plant natives around the lighthouse complex, and in the park .
